Saturday, 1st August 2015, ‘GURUPURNIMA’ was celebrated in the school under the able guidance of principal ma’am Mrs. Savita Sharma since ‘GURUPURNIMA’ is an Indian festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers, a day sacred to the memory of the ancient ‘SAGE VYASA’ who wrote Mahabharata on the bank of river Godavari.
1st August is also observed as death anniversary of LOKMANYA TILAK who was the first leader of the “Indian Independence movement”. The activity was organized to make them aware of the day.
Day started with special assembly conducted by teachers and students of MG House where a short film based on the story of Eklavya was shown to the students of class 6th to 12th. During 6th period a short animated film giving information about LOKMANYA TILAK was shown to the students. Mrs. SHASHIKALA SHIBI inspired the students with her valuable thoughts.
The following house wise activities were conducted for students from classes 1st to 12th ,
- Class 1st to 5th – Greeting making for teachers.
- Class 6th and 7th – writing message for teachers on a card.
- Class 8th to 12th – Poster making of Lokmanya Tilak.
Around 620 students were present for the activity. The assembly proved very informative to the students. A special initiative was taken by Mr. Ganesh Rane for conducting competitions and lending them a helping hand for the same.
